Randy Johnson (class of 2020)

"2nd time EPMer, 1st time graduate. I realized that I was not seeing my ""business"" as a business, it was still a hobby masquerading as a dream. Last year reality woke me up and showed me how unpredictable the future really is. I had a dream and a vision but not solid plan or consistent execution to arrive at ""my"" mission accomplished.

So I'm iterating myself, a product, and my fledgling business. This year more than ever I've promised myself that I will really, actually, start a business and leave the hobby behind. I will commit to a mentorship program this year to capture my vision and become the role model I should be for others."

What is your biggest takeaway from EPM?
"Coach Debra, reminded us the EPM is a sprint and while this was my second time through I still had moments of being the plate spinner in the acrobat show. I think my Super Hero is a Forensic Librarian, I collect, catalogue, distill, and take away specific nuggets that I incorporate into my life and now products. While that is important to fully develop an idea into a product or service, making sales is just as important. So having a product or service to launch that may not be where I want it to be is ok, especially since many clients have not even had that experience.

This year I'm going to launch products or services that are need but plan on iterating them into flagship products or services in their own right."

How did EPM help you become successful?
Certainly the accountability of the program, plus the checking up process was a great reminder that I had made commitments to myself that I needed to follow through on.

How has EPM and your success impacted your life?
For someone working in thse Peronal Growth and Skill Development area I was reminded that to be a role model I must be accountable to myself first. If I can't be driven enough to complete my goals, then how could I expect others to complete theirs.

What has been the biggest change in your business?
Following through to the end and creating the start of an entry level product to get people into my world.

What is now possible for you because of your Experience Product?
It gives me an entry level offering that introduces foundational topics for behavior change and mindset development. Even in it current form, I can launch follow-on opportunity through coaching engagements, speaking engagements, and sets the tone for additional growth by others.

"I came into EPM with no list or prior business. I've been playing around for a number of years with the dream of setting up a coaching business. I've done lots of pro-bono work and plenty of coaching in the Corporate World but hadn't yet made that transition to creating my own paying clients.

EPM has helped me narrow down on my target market, get much more clarity on how to reach and speak to them and start to build connections with potential clients.

EPM has been a masterclass in marketing, both in terms of what to do and the mindset around being successful at marketing. Although it's disappointing that I wasn't able to hit Mission Accomplished I can see no reason, as long as I keep working the process that I can't reach this, just in a slightly longer time scale."

What is your biggest takeaway from EPM?
To keep chatterboxing and looking for opportunities to share what I do.

How did EPM help you become successful?
Apart from guiding me in the action steps I need to take I have found Marisa's way of explaining the mindset behind marketing extremely valuable.

How has EPM and your success impacted your life?
If anything it's highlighted where I still need to do work on my mindset to move from that of an employee to a business owner.

What has been the biggest change in your business?
Getting the clarity around my target market and ways to connect with them.

What is now possible for you because of your Experience Product?
So far I've only had 2 strategy calls that went ahead. The first one signed up for a £5000 package but then backed out the next day. The second person was a not right now. Both these have taught me that there is a market for what I'm offering and I got good learnings from both calls. I know because of this that it is possible for me to grow a business from the skills I have.

I was having seeking a way to grow my business that allows me to support new families in a deeper way, build relationships, and doesn't rely solely on an hourly or per consult model. I knew I didn't want to just work more hours, and instead I wanted to maintain or expand my virtual support while offering an innovation that can elevate my business. I joined Experience Product Masterclass and through the the training and process of personal reflection, coaching, and exploring the concepts shared by Marisa I developed a new program that I supports families with newborns to optimize their sleep and wellness. I launched the Ebb + Flow Newborn Sleep Method and it has been well received by families and other professionals in the perinatal field. I am excited to see it grow, and to be able to come back to the Experience Product Masterclass materials and bonuses as I continue to iterate my way to awesome!

"Hi, first of all & this is important that I'm from other side of the world which English language is not my first language. So, conduct course & overall marketing material in English will be like a dream for me. I'm not confidence with my English at all to use for selling something. However, at least this course is allowed me to ""just do it"". Coach is no judging & very supportive.
I can say that at least I do have mission to accomplish for myself that I can develop everything to use for my course in English :). However, there is a next wall ahead which I have to face it by myself is to starting from ""0"" of how I can promote my course to the world. To be honest, I still not confident to do ""chatterbox"". I promise to myself that I will do my best.
Thanks again for the magnificent course. I will do it until I have my income mission accomplish in one day."

What is your biggest takeaway from EPM?
Just do it

What has been the biggest change in your business?
I have a real product already vs before (only dream product)

Jennifer Britton (class of 2020)

As an author of PlanDoTrack, a workbook and planner for virtual and remote professionals, I have experimented with designing and running with several different programs around productivity in the remote space. As we stepped into the new year (and year 3 of this body of work) I was committed to creating a structure which coaches and remote professionals could commit to doing, so that they could move the needle on important tasks and projects that had been hanging "over their head". At the same time it as really important for participants to feel connected to a larger community and not be working in isolation. What was an experiment (and not my original EPM project) was such a success in it's first iteration that I've just kicked of another 21 day series of 21 for 21 virtual co-working sprints for February!

"Even though I didn't hit mission accomplished, I've learned valuable things. I was hesitant to sign up because I've purchased a lot of programs before that I didn't finish. After signing up I still feel this hesitation and thought of asking my money back. But I didn't, deep down it feels right. I don't have problems with tech or design because that's what I love doing. Couple of weeks have passed but I'm still not clear on my niche. But I refused to give up. It's been a roller coaster. I was able to catch up on the training videos and milestones then I fall behind again. I was overwhelmed because I'm doing other programs as well. I did the trainings again during the Christmas & New Year break. But when I got to Module 4 I got so scared, a lot of fears, old conditioning, & limiting beliefs came to surface. I'm an introvert so marketing was very challenging for me. I allowed myself to be crippled by self-doubt. Then there was like a voice inside me telling me to keep going & that I can do this! I had this experience before but this time it is loud and clear. With only two weeks left, I decided to do a survey. Few days passed, I only got 22 responses. Five days left into the program... I got 84 responses back. I doubt I can still make it but I heard this voice again saying it's not over until it's over. Then I saw Marisa's video and she said the same thing. I drafted my first email to send out to the survey respondents who left their email address. I sent it out over the weekend. I haven't got any response back yet but I will continue on and will send the second email. I will keep going until I hit mission accomplished!

I may not hit mission accomplished by the deadline but the lessons I learned doing this program is priceless. I struggled with clarity all my life but now I'm clear of what I really wanted to do & I have a clear direction of where I wanted to go. It's amazing how I'm able to handle my emotions now & I get back up faster. I'm notorious at beating myself up but now I'm kinder to myself. Because of the wonderful people in the community that shared their experiences, challenges & struggles, I realised that I'm not the only one going through these ups and downs. And that it's okay to be vulnerable. I'm learning to accept myself & where I'm at. I'm slowly opening up & giving myself permission to be vulnerable. I'm done hiding & playing small. I'm not busy being busy but I'm busy creating something that will have an impact in someone's life. I've been invisible for a long time but I'm now ready to be seen. Thank you so much Marisa, this program is more than just creating an online program it changes lives :) This is the best program I've ever been done. I got more than what I've paid for. "

What is your biggest takeaway from EPM?
My biggest takeaway is 'iterate your way to awesome'! Things don't have to be perfect before I get started and take my message out there. Mistakes happen.. take the lessons from it. Follow the process & Marisa's teachings :)

How did EPM help you become successful?
I never thought I could create an online program (still working on it... I'm close). What help me and love about it is - this is a complete program. Everything we need from start to finish is all here - it's a complete package. The coaching sessions are huge help. My mindset shifted and I see myself differently now.

How has EPM and your success impacted your life?
I discovered more about myself and my "superpowers". EPM has made huge impact in my life. I didn't know that all these were possible. It changed how I see myself. I wake up now with a smile on my face and feeling excited. I've always wanted to create something that will help people and EPM made it all possible.

What is now possible for you because of your Experience Product?
I'm still crafting my first product but now I know it is possible to create a product that I'm passionate about, can help people and make a profitable income at the same time. And it is possible to create again and again.

Dr. Fran Hoh (class of 2020)

"I came in to EPM with a few strengths, I had a solid knowledge of my content and had the credentials and life experiences to prove it, I have been teaching and creating course content for the past 30 years, I am comfortable speaking in front of a group, I have been a thought leader and visionary in my field, I am a life long learner and love the whole learning experience, especially learning cutting edge things that most people don't know, I never have been a perfectionist, and I have an optimistic attitude and truly believe there is nothing I cant accomplish if I put my mind to it.
I also came to EPM with a few challenges, I am not at all tech savvy, I don't always prioritize as well as I should, I have zero marketing background, and I am not a good networker and don't maintain relationships with people i have worked with.
There are several things about EPM that are off the charts. The engagement from day one was incredible. I felt connected from the moment I joined. Even before the course started I was engaged to a super high level. Marisa is truly a SUPERHERO! There are few people I have met in my life that resonate with me the way she does. She is so amazingly knowledgeable, so prepared for everything that happens, so transparent in ALL she does, so relatable, so visionary, so gentle with her interactions with students, her network of people she brings to the table are all top notch, any slip ups that happen are not a big deal because everything else she brings is so over the top. The xperiencify platform for course delivery is genius. She is an EXPERT in her field.
I am a very competitive person and thought the point system would be a real incentive for me, but early on, the learning became the incentive, getting the material, trying new things, interacting with my pod and the facebook group. There was a LOT of material to digest, a lot of new things to try, a lot of things i had never done before. The incentive became mastering the content, and the points were just something attached to that.
I did not reach mission accomplished by Marisa's definition of making 2000 or more over a 12 week period. But i accomplished my mission. I learned how to create an online course using the most up to date, state of the art program that is out there. I have all the tools I need to make other courses and allow course creation to replace my already 6 figure income. I have lifetime access to all the course that will help me create exactly what I want. This has been an INCREDIBLE experience and I thank you."

What is your biggest takeaway from EPM?
Reiterate your way to awesome, done is better than perfect, just keep putting one foot in front of the other, stay connected with people that can guide you to awesome.

How did EPM help you become successful?
By learning what it takes to create successful online courses, keep students engaged and coming back. The feedback in the pods and facebook group was helpful.

How has EPM and your success impacted your life?
It allowed me to see and learn a whole new way of reinventing myself to achieve the goals that i want to. I have been a nurse at the bedside for 40 years. I am ready to continue to give to my patients but in a way that allows me to have a life I deserve now.

What has been the biggest change in your business?
Gaining more clarity and focus, setting yearly goals, and the knowledge that I can create online courses that will transform lives of people living with serious illness.

What is now possible for you because of your Experience Product?
Once I get the marketing down pat, i can leave the hospital, live on an island, delivering online courses.

Devin Cowick (class of 2020)

"When I first joined EPM, I was not at all committed to the cause.

My partner Don thought it would be helpful, and I hesitantly agreed, so we went ahead and joined.

Even though I had a course idea I desperately needed help building, we were in the middle of our first real product launch so I didn’t think we had time for EPM. We were also about to leave for an anniversary trip. Plus, I had done A LOT of online training recently, and was feeling fatigue and resistance to yet another one.

With everything that was going on, we fell weeks behind in EPM. But when we finally came up for air and logged into the course, we were highly impressed with the content and amazed at the level of coaching support. So we decided to binge-watch the training and feverishly took action on it.

With support and encouragement from our wonderful coach, Emily, we started to catch up. We pushed forward with our idea to create a book writing course for kids that would help boost their confidence, find their voice, and encourage their creativity.

Then we came to the Bird’s Eye View outlining task, and we stalled. We fell behind once again. Holiday breaks were unproductive, especially when covid-19 hit my family and an uncle and cousin died as a result.

When we logged back into EPM in January, we were yet again weeks behind where we should have been. According to the schedule, it was time to start marketing and launching but we still needed to decide on our course outline. Catching up felt impossible.

But this creative writing course was one of our biggest goals for 2021. So we buckled down and broke through our mental blocks. Again we sprinted through the training and with Coach Emily’s help we took action.

We started to catch up again but we were seriously running out of time to hit Mission Accomplished. I was about ready to give up on launching in January and just settle for graduating. But Don wouldn’t have it.

So we laid out an ambitious schedule to launch the last two weeks of January. We came up with a 3 pronged approach to launch our Book Creators Club for Kids: chatterboxing, lead magnet promoted by Facebook ads, and email marketing. Normal price - $297, Founding Group price - $147.

Our free Treasure Map Template for story outlining was a huge hit. We got great feedback from our existing audience and we added a thousand people to our 4k email list. Going into our open cart, we were feeling excited and optimistic.

Day one of registration arrived for our Book Creators Club... and we didn’t get a single sale. A knot formed in my stomach. I started to doubt everything. But keeping in mind the Marketing Mindf**k and Coach Emily’s reassurance, we trudged on with our planned 5-day campaign.

On day 2 of the launch, we got our first enrollment. Hooray! we thought. Now the sales will start rolling in. Only 13 more to go to hit mission accomplished.

But we only got the one sale that day. And one more sale on day 3. What were we doing wrong? I made updates to our sales page and tried different angles in our emails. On day 4, we got zero enrollments. So we had a total of 2 students for the first 4 days of our open cart. Super disappointing.

Feeling thoroughly discouraged, I went back to watching EPM trainings and listening to coaching call replays to make sure we could at least graduate, and possibly uncover a gold nugget.

It was during one of the coaching call replays that I realized something: we weren’t doing enough chatterboxing. I was extremely uncomfortable with the strategy, but it seemed to be one of the themes of success among those who had already achieved mission accomplished, or close to it.

With my heart beating like crazy, I posted a vulnerable note about the Book Creators Club on my personal Facebook page. Then I reached out to anyone in my professional network that I thought might be interested or might know someone who could be interested in our creative writing course for kids. Not everyone responded, but many did, and they were surprisingly supportive.

On day 5 of our launch, we got 8 enrollments!! Some were from our existing email list, some were from our new freebie subscribers, and some were from chatterboxing. We were back in the game! By Saturday night we needed at least 4 more students to register for the course.

The challenge was, our 5-day discounted price was ending. But with Coach Emily’s guidance, we raised the price to the full $297 at midnight and kept registration open. There were only two days left to hit mission accomplished.

On Sunday morning, we woke up to a sale at full price! YAY! We just needed one more at full price. Then a new subscriber emailed us saying a storm had knocked out her power for the past couple days so she wasn’t able to register on time. We offered to honor the discounted price and she accepted.

We still needed at least one more enrollment. And we got it! Through chatterboxing to family! Unfortunately, the person who had purchased at full price early that morning was a family friend, and we didn’t feel right about them not getting the family discount. So we refunded half their money. We were back to needing one more sale.

Exhausted but hopeful, I sent out one last email to our abandon carts on Sunday afternoon. Monday evening I received a response from one of those abandon carts who turned out to be a referral from chatterboxing. She became our 14th enrollment. Just in time. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Lesson learned: chatterboxing may be uncomfortable, but it works! We got a third of our sales from our original 4k list, a third from our new 1k subscribers, and a third from chatterboxing.

This experience has created huge momentum for us. It was the most expensive offer we’ve ever made and the most resourceful we’ve ever been to meet our goal. Don and I are excited to now deliver the beta course to our students and have confidence that we can do even better next time we launch.

Thanks EPM Team! #Couragepodforever"

Though I didn't meet Mission Accomplish, I learned so much about me and my process. I had been doing almost everything wrong. I had created my product based on what I thought was the best process based on my personal experience verses what my clients needed and wanted.
