"(NOTE) As I write this I am in the fourth day of a hospital stay battling an infection. This was not a delay I needed. Thanks Coach Paul for dragging me across the finish line.

BUT, I finally conquered the MVP track! Whoot!.

When I started into this I have to admit to a little overconfidence. After all, unlike “the 95%” I have successfully concluded at least two other courses. But nothing like this.

Along with life’s rude and untimely interruptions several timeless adages come to mind as I reflect on my journey. Foremost is the tortoise and the hare (I am the former, to be sure, just ask coach Paul)

Another one is the one about teaching old dogs new tricks. The most obvious new trick is yet another adage, putting the cart before the horse . Whoever heard of selling a course that doesn’t yet exist? Trust the process they told me, keep moving forward they told me. OK.

And the final adage, which I am sure you all can relate to, is like trying to drink from a firehose. I am pretty sure I heard Marisa lean into this one more than once. As the firehose stream flowed I plodded along as best I could, trying to surf a tsunami of content; the quantity of which was only surpassed by its quality. Trust me on this, I’m a content specialist.

About three quarters into the program, and a bucket load of iterations, an image began to emerge. And the more I worked the plan, the clearer the picture became. The minute details of that image were not yet clear, or important. Appreciating that as part of the process is another new trick. Mustering the determination to recognize and work past the how holes was probably the most valuable new trick of all. Trust me, the path of my career is littered with the roadkill of analysis paralysis.

I come away with both the feeling of accomplishment but also a new and very powerful box of tools. Now my confidence is based on the scars and bruises of me fighting with myself, and winning. This brings to mind not another adage but a most fitting quote about choosing directions, ”... I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”

A big shout out to Marisa, Coach Paul, all my podmates, Matt and Emily, Murray and everyone who drives this awesome machine. It was, and will continue to be, a helluva ride.
