Your GRADUATION Story
"I worked in human services for decades, as an Equal Employment Opportunity Investigator and trainer, social worker, psychologist, and neuropsychologist. I am a certified yoga teacher and T’ai Chi Chih instructor and continue to teach TCC. Upon retirement a couple of years ago, having more time to process the news, I became concerned that increasing violence to humans, other creatures, and the earth was a tragedy that needed to be addressed. Somehow I began to write “teaching tales” that I hoped to include in a book about the importance of helping young children develop personal values and close personal relationships with positive role models.

Along came the opportunity to digest Marissa’s free offerings online about ways to engage people in online classes and I was amazed at her genius, and ability to share it convincingly and professionally. That got me thinking about how interesting my idea would be for parents and young children in a gamified format and that hooked me on enrolling in the MVP class.

The class has challenged me beyond belief! I have always set goals and met them with some effort but without the clear fits and starts I’ve experienced with MVP. I have learned a lot about very unfamiliar territory and just as I’ve surrendered in dismay at my ignorance, sure enough Coach Carolyn has given me a thumbs up for something, stimulating me to take a few more steps forwards. The idea of accepting less than perfection, but the insistence on writing and planning for an extremely specific audience or microniche has been fascinating.

While finishing the program and the written process, along with having a clear plan of what I would like to cover in my class “Great Mom Talks”- A Roadmap for Having Important Conversations with Your Little One,” I am still struggling with the Chatterboxing. I see the value, but find that is not my skill, and I worry that I have worked and will have little impact on the audience I wish to assist. As in the very recent past, however, I will continue taking one step forward at a time and see what happens next.
