I was struggling with restarting my public relations and marketing communications business in a new, and much smaller, community where I now live. For some time, I felt that an eCommerce business was the way to go. However, while I had "research" knowledge, I had very little eCommerce experience. I was between giving it all up or muddling into unknown territory and generally feeling overall like a failure. And then I stumbled onto a highly recommended online course creation webinar, offered free by Marisa. Terms like "Course Creator" and "Experience Product" were totally foreign to me. However, I soon learned that the "Dopamine Button" could be a lot of fun and I was curious. When I decided to sign up for the Experience Product Masterclass, I figured it was my last shot -- either I'd succeed and begin again or I'd give it up and be done with it.

The EPM was a constant deadline. I'd start out new every Monday and was behind by Friday. I watched every training, went to every Mon, Wed, Fri coaching and learned tons. However, I felt like I had ADHD as the pace was both furious and intense. We were constantly on the move, exposed to new ideas, immersed in strategies and generally thrown head first into action steps, never taken before. However, there was support everywhere, including lots and lots of Side Door Coaching.

Usually, I approach learning in a more predictable approach. If a problem pops up, I solve it rather quickly. When my Facebook disappeared from my computer and I could no longer post, I reached out to Support. Final diagnosis -- it was some problem on my end. For 3 weeks, I was unable to complete certain postings. To me, this was a major curve ball. My approach is to complete the homework and get an A.

Chatterboxing was my next hurdle. In Connecticut, when it snows or rains hard, you stay off the streets unless you are desperate or forced to go into work. Who was I supposed to go find and talk to? The mailman had no idea how lucky he was that he has a central mailbox for all his deliveries. So, I finally started to reach out via email and phone. I started picking up a few friends/colleagues willing to be a referral source for me. I finally talked to my hair stylist about my latest project. Little did I know, she was seriously considering starting her own salon and would know which direction she was going -- rent a chair or start her own salon. She would know in 2-3 months as she was negotiating with her current hair salon owner. No sale yet. Then I remembered a neighbor who has asked me if I could help her. We had just moved in and she had heard I was in public relations. I figured what the heck. I might as well ask her. So, I did. She agreed to be a Beta Client and would gladly give me feedback and a testimonial.

I had my first meeting with my Beta Client last Thursday, Jan 29. I had to adjust my Experience Product a bit to meet her needs but that was just a reminder that flexibility is key. When I returned home after our 1.5 hour meeting, I felt elated and then somewhat bothered but couldn't figure out why. That evening I watched the Revenue Stream Webinar offered by Marisa. I loved the webinar but still felt like something was missing from my meeting with my Beta Client. That night when I was brushing my teeth before going to bed, I figured it out. The profile information was the beginning of quick 10 chapter outline of an e-book, an add-on for credibility. Now I was excited. Next time, I will be bringing my digital recorder. Soon, I will be getting my 3 sales, though likely after this course ends. But I've just begun a new exciting path and I couldn't be happier. Thank you to Marisa, the Coaches and all my fellow participants.
