"Personal
I am originally from Vietnam, and my family moved to the United Kingdom over 40 years ago. Having started learning English at the age of 17, I vividly remember the challenges of mastering a new language as an adult. I understand how difficult it is to learn a new language, especially when it comes to practicing communication. Overcoming this challenge requires consistent practice, patience, and the right support.
This experience instilled in me a deep understanding of the importance of support and guidance during the learning process, which has become the cornerstone of my teaching philosophy. My journey with languages has been both personal and professional, shaping my passion for teaching and inspiring others to embark on their own language-learning adventures.
I have built a strong foundation in language education, which has been further supported by my professional qualifications, including: teacher training
A TEFL ESL 120-hour certification, which has equipped me with essential skills for teaching English as a second language.@Coachshayla@liveyourmessage.com

An 80-hour teacher training program, providing me with practical methodologies and effective teaching strategies.
A pedagogical certificate at the elementary level, specializing in the development of core skills for young learners.
In addition to teaching languages to learners of all ages, I have extensive experience working with individuals, and groups with mental health challenges and primary-level students. This diverse teaching background has enriched my ability to tailor lessons to meet a wide range of needs, ensuring that each learner feels supported, encouraged, and empowered.

Helping Mental Health Students Communicate with Confidence
Recently, I worked with 11 mental health students to help them improve their communication skills and build confidence. These students were passionate about their work but struggled to express themselves effectively. To support them, I created a program tailored to their specific needs.
Program Highlights:
Customized sessions addressing self-doubt and stress in conversations.
Practical exercises like role-playing and mindfulness activities.
Supportive environment for safe practice and feedback.
Results:
By the end of the program, the students:
Communicated more confidently and clearly.
Connected better with others using improved interpersonal skills.
Felt happier and more self-assured in their personal and professional lives.

A Winter I’ll Never Forget
At the end of 2020, my family and I faced one of the hardest times of our lives. I contracted COVID-19 and couldn’t eat anything for eight days, surviving only on liquids. By the ninth day, my condition became critical. I was weak, unable to stand up, struggling to breathe, and a paramedic team was called to check on me.
At the same time, my dad who had been hiding his discomfort, was suddenly in visible distress. He started having severe breathing problems. The paramedics made the decision to rush him to the hospital, but despite their efforts, he didn’t make it. Losing him was devastating, and it left a hole in our family that can never be filled.
My mum also contracted COVID-19. Even while battling the virus herself, she stayed strong for us, trying to hold everything together as we dealt with the grief of losing my dad.
That winter was one of the darkest times of my life. It reminded me how fragile life is and how important it is to cherish every moment with the people we love. Though it was painful, the scars of that time will always remain, it also taught me the value of resilience and hope in the face of hardship.
