Steve Newton

"I am both blessed and cursed with having a strong systems thinking ability. Translation = I love shiny objects. It is very easy for me to recognize how an information or experience product can fit in to my current (very) busy and growing public safety consulting business. That said, I get several calls a week and haven't had to go looking for clients since I started it in June 2018. Good problem to have...right?

But I'm also no spring chicken anymore and am looking for ways to transition to more of a lifestyle business model. I have purchased several products from the ""gurus"" and others in the past, including premium coaching products, but nothing has really stuck. I've been able to complete their training, but for the most part that's just inherent in how my mind is wired for the pursuit of new knowledge...always. Generally, I can say my main problem has been one of distraction. I had no reason to think anything would be different when I joined EPM in fall 2022.

But I can honestly say that EPM is the first product I have purchased and followed through to completion with the milestone activities. I have my first training experience product ready to go, save for few minor mods around extended launch dates. This is a first for me, staying focused on completion and managing the distractions. It took a few late nights and weekends to pull it off, but I'm good to go. For that, I am thankful and excited.

As part of my own pursuit of knowledge, I've been reflecting a bit on why it is that personally I almost felt compelled or obligated to finish. I think I have to chalk it up to the gamification piece, and the masterful use of several marketing psychology practices. If I were to take nothing else away from this experience, it has been how informative and educational it has been watching a master in action.

So back to the blessing/curse/systems thinking thing. One of my R&D projects in my consulting business involves developing conditional training in extended reality environments that sit on top of a market dominant gaming platform that is positioning well for the Metaverse. Whereas prior to EPM, I was viewing it in a more traditional lens I am now exploring how gamification can fit in. Simple version is that I can make Xperiencify work in a VR/AR/ER world through the URLs. I just have to figure out what the virtual environment interfaces need to look like to make it truly meaningfully experiential.

And so, like many others who joined EPM, my participation in your program has changed the way I view some of my future business development. I'm not so sure I would have got there in my thinking without going there in your EPM program. I thank you so much for that."
