SANA TURNOCK

2021

I love facilitating and delivering to groups and find I'm skilled at it. I am comfortable (and love) creating and presenting. What I'm not the best at, is marketing programs and attracting the right audience. The way EPM was marketed and what it promised intrigued me. It takes a lot for me to sign up to a program as I want to be able to commit fully to whatever I've signed up for. Well, EPM was not what I expected. I signed up without having a discussion with an EPM representative. I think if I had, I would not have signed up as, I soon discovered, it was intense. It reminded me of the academic workload I've had in the past. Juggling a full time job, family and new business venture I didn't expect what I got. Holy x@3! Twelve weeks of continuous videos to review and digest, weekly podcalls, supercharge videos, FB posting, tech videos and group coaching calls with Marissa. In order to graduate AND get what I signed up for I had to 'kill some darlings'. You know what I mean. So, I focused on what I believed was necessary. For me it was the weekly modules, some of the supercharge videos, the weekly pod calls and checking in/posting in the FB group. I'm a completer. There was no way I was NOT going to finish this program by the deadline. I learned how to structure my program differently, progress over perfection, appreciate pivots (have done a few), that it was ok not to have my program content complete while still trying to find my audience and the marketing mindfuck happens to a lot of people - not just me. When I hit that roadblock I took time out from the program to recalibrate and reframe my thoughts. I decided to shift from doing a 1:few program to a 1:1 program, changed the name and adjusted the mission statement. I've been chatting to people, created an email campaign (with currently no success) and am about to embark on a series of social media posts, blogs and articles to gain attention and hopefully find people genuinely interested in having a conversation with me about the Mind your Mindset in Business program. I have also shifted the start date to March 2022. My goal is to work with 10 people for the first beta program and then see what changes need to be made after that. If the response is really good, I would love to run it twice a year. By the way, going through the program also got me thinking about another 1:1 bespoke package. I've called it Legacy Audio Storytelling. It ties in with my passion of podcasting and helping people capture personal stories of courage for their family and future generations. Once I get the first program marketed, I will be looking focus on this. The result? The creation of two very different EPM products which have very different markets. Once I've had some sales, I'll be watching Module 5 to keep the momentum going.
