In March my father began the final downward decline of his health that was the result of complications from Type 2 Diabetes. I took as much leave as possible and eventually resigned from my position as a Principal of a residential and day school for students with challenging behaviors paired with developmental disabilities in order to support my father. While I worked with health care teams to help my father, I was quite alarmed by the number of people that I saw in the rehab center with amputations and other health problems associated with the progression from Prediabetes to Type 2 Diabetes. This was a wake up call for me. When I was diagnosed with Prediabetes I was able to halt it's progression with lifestyle changes. After having spinal surgery last year, blood sugar was harder to control, but I am regaining control using the tools of this program. I have made it my mission to help others do the same so that they can feel good and continue to serve others from a base of wellness, vitality, and strength.
