" I can work remotely from anywhere in the world with my family, travel, go on adventures, and buy more courses so I can always continue learning. I used to dream about this stuff but the path was blurry.""Before EMP I was doing life and performance coaching and was a part owner of a personal development company (with an online course that has great content and poor delivery) doing both 1:1 and 1:FEW client interactions. I had also been the Orchestra Director/Instructor at an Arts Charter School for 12 years. I retired from this position in May 2020. I was working on building my own business, but feeling stuck, a little frustrated, and unsure how to create an online course that could make a greater impact and grow my business. I have taken lots of online courses (even getting my Master's Degree online) and know there are some great courses and some really poor ones. I was feeling frustrated, floundering, questioning my decision to retire, and worried about making money. Considering the most I had made in a month since May was $1500, I found myself questioning if I was even capable of making the kind of money that would allow me to live the life I wanted.
I had been following Marisa for a few months and decided to join SWY. Within a couple of weeks I knew I was sold on the LYM vibe, mission and philosophy. It wasn't about the XP's, although I found them entertaining; what I really liked was the high quality delivery, the relevant content, the support system, the solid education, and the fun, be yourself vibe of the company. I wanted to be a part of it. Even though joining EMP was a financial challenge, I took the leap, and went on the payment plan. Even though I knew I wouldn't actually request a refund, I let that guarantee calm the voice in my head telling me I was a fool. I figured if LYM was willing to set that guarantee that if I did the work I couldn't help but be successful. I knew that my goal going into EMP was to create an online course, but I wasn't sure what the course would be about, how to create it, or really anything. It was way out of my comfort zone.
Despite everything, I went all in. I did all the stuff, all the steps, and I even started out on the Fast Track and narrowed down a few ideas. In the meantime, what I learned in EMP was completely upgrading my interactions with my coaching clients and giving me ideas to contribute to the company I am a part owner of. I really struggled with settling on an idea for my course. I had so many, but finally I got it. I was happy about it, though not exactly fired up, but ""iterate your way to awesome"" kept going through my head so I took steps forward and got more clarity. I really appreciated the very easily ""digestible"" steps in EMP that helped me chunk down a massive idea into doable steps. The coaching calls and the Facebook Group were also very helpful and inspiring. I looked at my Minimum, Target & Stretch goals every day, it felt like a mountain and I was barely past the first rise, but EMP kept me moving forward.
In my other business, I was reintroduced to an acquaintance, Jenn, and we connected. She is a fitness model now, but when I had last seen her she was having major health problems and surgeries. I was blown away by her story of being hardly able to walk 5 years ago to becoming a fitness model now. Even more, she had developed a unique system that set her method apart from anything else I've ever seen on the market. After some research, I confirmed that the system was unique.
When she asked me to be her business coach to help get her system (which she kept in random, unorganized folders on her phone and in her head) into a marketable program, I had the confidence, because of EMP, to ask if she wanted to partner instead. I knew that Health & Fitness is a very crowded and noisy marketplace, but this felt right, it fired me up. This was in mid November. So, making a huge pivot, I put my own course ideas on the ""shelf.” I asked @CoachCarolyn to look at my new material, and Jenn and I went to work with Make Every Movement Count with a launch date of 2 January 2021.
I thought we were going to create one program (yep, I jumped in the deep end without a life jacket), but as things unfolded, it became clear that we would be creating .... eight programs.... yes, 8. I also thought that I would be the ""backstage"" girl and Jenn would be the ""face"" of the Company. I mean, I'm not exactly a fitness model and The Pet Shop Boys song lyrics, ""I've got the brains, you've got the looks, let's make lots of money."" kept going through my head (even though Jenn is also very smart). Jenn really wanted to share the face of the company with me since mindset is an important component of our program and that is one of my areas of expertise. So, even though standing next to Jenn on camera and in front of potential clients felt a little intimidating, it was a huge growing opportunity for me that I am grateful for.
Between Thanksgiving and January 2nd, we organized, filmed, created, built the program in Xperiencify, made a glorified landing page (thank you for the Website ATM training, it was incredibly helpful), did a Webinar, and Chatterboxed. I also personally started doing Jenn's fitness system and have had amazing results - making me not only a creator and founder, but also a beneficiary of the system. On New Year's Day, we were still filming videos for the launch the next day. I just kept saying ""Iterate your way to awesome, iterate your way to awesome.”
We gave two scholarships to the Program to people we knew would take advantage of the opportunity and provide us with brutally honest feedback as well as actively participating in the Facebook Group. We also offered an Elite Movers price of $197 and bonus coaching sessions to the first 10 who signed up. When we launched on January 2 we had 9 students and we had only completed the Pre-Start material. All day January 2 and 3 we worked on getting the first week of the program in place to start on January 4. We barely made it, but at 00:30 on January 4 we entered in the final information. It was ready to go for the clients on Monday. Since launch, we have been only one or two weeks ahead of the clients, but we have gained 5 more clients (all through Chatterbox). We reached Mission Accomplished on January 10. This morning (29 January 2021) I had a powerful conversation with a contact that could lead to a collaboration, licensing deal or white label opportunity with a large health coaching group and a local nutrition store wants to advertise on our website. Additionally, current clients are getting great results and sharing them. We are iterating our way to AWESOME!
From this experience so far I have learned some valuable lessons.
1. It's okay to not know everything before I take a leap. I knew this and preached this to my clients and students, but I didn't believe it for myself. Now I do.
2. I don't have to be the perfect example for people to follow me. In fact, not being perfect is relatable. I felt and still do sometimes, like ""why would someone follow me on a health and fitness program? I'm not a fitness model."" but this has actually turned into a superpower for me because I am relatable. The clients love me and see me on the journey as well.
3. Busting out of my comfort zone is good. Because I purchased EMP (a stretch) I had the courage to do this Make Every Movement Count Program. I honestly don't know if I would have had the courage or seen my own value in a partnership had it not been for EMP.
4. I have learned that I love collaboration, I want to collaborate with others, collaboration is my superpower. Many times I have been told, ""You make people look good."" I see this more clearly now and I love it about myself. I embrace it and look forward to helping as many people as I possibly can to not only ""look good"" but feel great about themselves.
5. Possibilities are opening up for me. Opportunities are showing up, new connections are being created, my confidence is higher, my gratitude is deeper, and my feeling of abundance is expanded. Truthfully, EMP has changed my business and my life in so many ways. I have created a product I am grateful for and look forward to the ""blue skies"" of the present and future because of my EMP experience."
What is your biggest takeaway from EPM?
Truly, EMP has changed my life, and there are so many takeaways. Probably the biggest is "Iterate Your Way To Awesome". This is something I have said to myself dozens of times every day in the last 3 months. In the past, I have been petrified by a lack of perfection and this has really held me back and kept me thinking smaller. Because of this singular phrase, combined with my other skills and talents, I have been able to produce a massive product, launch early, make money and see that “done” really is “better than perfect.” I have more confidence in myself, more clarity in my business, more awareness of the value I offer, and more hope to make a big impact, earn a great income and achieve my other goals and dreams.
How has EPM and your success impacted your life?
Because of EMP I have more confidence, more clarity, and more inspiration to continue building my business. If it wasn't for EMP I would not have had the courage to say "yes" to what became my EMP creation. Because of EMP I am in an industry I lacked the confidence to be in. I felt empowered to bust out of my comfort zone. I am on a different path than I planned AND I AM THRILLED about it!! My experience with EMP also confirmed that I love and thrive in collaboration. I have some other big projects and collaborations in the works that I now know how to experiencify and I can add even more value to those collaborations because of the EMP program. EMP has been one of the most impactful courses I have ever taken.
What has been the biggest change in your business?
My business has actually changed a lot since joining EMP. EMP really appealed to me because I knew I wanted to create an online course. Online business was an area I was weak in, but I am now an owner and creator of a powerful one to many online course in an industry (health & fitness) I was not in before. Now I have a new stream of income and feel much more confident in my ability to help my clients. Plus, I have a great resource (EMP) I can refer clients to when they are ready to create their own experience product. EMP helped me see myself, my gifts, and my passions more clearly and because of that, new opportunities and connections have come to my path. I have learned to "experiencify" the course I created in EMP and have upgraded my current offerings as well, leading to more engagement and more fun. My business changed significantly over the course of EMP and is more aligned with my mission than ever before.
What is now possible for you because of your Experience Product?
The possibilities are increasing. I now believe that I can make a big impact AND make a big income through not only the Experience Product I created in this course, but the Experience Products I will create in the future. I can work remotely from anywhere in the world with my family, travel, go on adventures, and buy more courses so I can always continue learning. I used to dream about this stuff but the path was blurry. It was a dream I hoped would come, but now I have a much clearer path and feel energized by the dreams instead of depressed by them. My Experience Product has breathed new life into me and, as someone who is almost 50, this is a big deal.
