"My Mission Accomplished Story
I have been working with a community based Mental Health organization for the past 3 years. The first year was clarifying the curriculum I developed while the Mental Health Clinical Director identified funding to support training the staff and consultancy. That led to the past two years of training clinical staff in the curriculum I developed, implementing the curriculum, getting approval from the local Workforce Development Agency and completing pre-and post-tests with analysis. We’d had discussions about a third year, but without a lot of clarity. We discussed creating an option for parents that focused on Mindset and Self-Efficacy. Then, life got busy and I didn’t hear too much from the Director.
I was determined to work on this mindset/self-efficacy concept and really wanted to make it something that would be lively. When I saw the information about Xperiencify, I knew I had to learn the platform! I was very excited about this platform because I thought it was just the thing for young people and adults! I was able to register and I very excitedly signed up while I was in the process of moving and then was injured (while moving) and required 7 stitches – Big Setback!
I really struggled to learn this platform! I listened to every session Monday, Wednesday and Friday, worked diligently through the modules – I didn’t always understand (as Coach Matthew can attest, lol), but continued to plough through! I really struggled with identifying the content, developing a survey, finding people to give the survey to and actually determining the outline of the content! It was really crazy. I was very disheartened for what felt like a very long time. I have held state and local positions, been a part of national organizations and had a very robust professional life until I developed asthma later in life. (This diagnosis changed my life! My triggers are cigarette smoke, freshly mown grass and floral scents – all of which are a real challenge to keep out of the airway.)
So, I’ve been trying to find people to chatterbox with, people to survey and I knew the content is needed as all of my discussions with the Clinical Director had confirmed this! I decided to create an Xperience product that would work for those working with at-risk youth and parents. I had a lot of difficulty determining how to do this and who the audience would be.
I had very few opportunities to do these things because Covid has completely shut everything down! I talked with Coach Matthew and with Marisa who provided me with some guidance and I got it going.
Then, today (2/1/2021), the Clinical Director of the Mental Health agency I have worked with for the past couple of years requested a face-to-face meeting. We talked about what the parents needed. We agreed there needed to be a structured parental component that would help both the parents and their children, and once again agreed the focus would be on Mindset and Self-Efficacy. (Note: There has been a real buzz about this curriculum with other school districts wanting it and parents requesting their children participate.)
I told her about Xperiencify and strongly encouraged her to consider a closer examination of the platform – if not for her own use, one of the staff could certainly use it in delivery of services. (I’m encouraging her to attend the March meeting) As we talked about the proposed course, she became increasingly more excited! I showed her the Xperiencify website and the course overview. She was over the top with enthusiasm!!
So, now I have a $15,000 year-long contract to implement “Release Your Powerhouse Within, Activate Your Growth Mindset and Empower Your Self-Efficacy” with the first of several groups of parents AND will complete two podcasts monthly (with her and her lead clinician) about this work! (May be a way to generate additional clients??) I am over the moon with excitement!!! She wanted a couple of other concepts included – but that’s the work of a Beta group – and there will be about 40 Moms in the first group! I am really excited because she has some Spanish speaking Moms (no English) and I understand that one can choose the language (I have a question in to Murray to confirm) of the content! If not, an interpreter will be provided – not the same, but that’s okay!!
Thank you so very much for this experience!!! It really has surpassed my wildest imagination. I have a passion to help people – it’s my superpower – what I’ve done my entire life, as a child and throughout my adulthood!!! And now, I can see it expanding throughout this country and around the world – my vision when first creating the curriculum, (there is an international standard of expectations included in the curriculum as an Overachiever track)!
